July 7, 2011 12:39 am Needs more love for Jason Aaron; Rob Guillory; and Brave and the Bold #33.  I was so sure the latter would get Eisner and Harvey nods for Best Single: wrong on both counts.
April 15, 2011 2:42 am I actually picked up the previous eleven issues of this earlier this week, then read this one, and I really think this is a great pick.  It's a nice shift of tone from issue 11, and takes the book in a very different direction.  One of the things I think Aaron's done really well on this run is to find contrast for the violence that's inherent with this character.  Be it comedy, rising tension, or just introspective moments, the book's alot more balanced than Punisher stories often can be.  Like Conor stated, there was very little violence at all in this issue, which was a nice change from the knock-down drag-out conclusion of the previous arc.  Aaron's got an awesome talent for keeping a character that's often hackneyed and boring, really fresh and engaging to read.
April 8, 2011 9:45 pm No Jason Aaron for Best Writer?  WTF?
March 27, 2011 3:02 am I have no idea how you make a chick diving off a helicopter to fight a dragon with a katana boring, but somehow this movie managed to do so.  Not only was it poorly constructed; incoherent; and devoid of emotional investment after the (actually very effective) opening, it was also just brutally misogynistic.  I'm not talking about fan service, or scanty costume design - that was honestly really tame.  But the deeper undercurrents were alot more disturbing than any number of upskirt shots could ever be: I don't want to go into spoilers, but it's like Snyder had a checklist of the hallmarks of modern feminist film, and made a special point of spitting on every single one of them.  The result is a movie that's both incredibly unsatisfying, and largely incoherent.  It might actually have one of the worst movie endings of all time, too.  If you didn't hate Sucker Punch for the first hour, the ending will probably seal the deal. I went from just bored and disappointed, to being downright pissed off for about half a dozen reasons.
February 24, 2011 3:56 pm Doom, at the funeral: "Johnny Storm cured my alcoholism."
January 26, 2011 12:21 am I guess this means we're in for another insane funeral one-shot.  You know what's funny?  If you replace the Sentry with Johnny in "Sentry: Fallen Sun", some of the ridiculous retcon flashbacks actually kind of make sense.

November 5, 2010 7:13 pm The Rhino story was really great.  My favorite Spider-Man books in recent memory.
October 28, 2010 3:50 pm This was an incredible issue, even by the high standard Aaron has set.  Who didn't rate this a 5, and what kind of awful, hateful drugs were they smoking when they clicked "4"?  Pick of the week, hands-down.
October 28, 2010 3:41 pm Jesus, I lost it at Sexy Alan Moore.  Well done!
