Let me spoil myself before I spoil the book.  This is going to be rather stream-of-consciousness.  I’m not a very…

December 6, 2011 11:09 am Detective Chimp would make my list. Maybe even Congorilla, if he counts.
September 20, 2011 2:23 pm Huge week for me. Looking forward to Nightwing, GLC and the Colossus/Juggy throw down. BQ: Only watched the Emmys until the football game kicked off. That was long enough to see Jim Parsons win, which was the only award I cared about. I think he's awesome as Sheldon Cooper. By that point, even if I was still interested in the other awards, those lame singing segments would have made me turn it off.
July 26, 2011 11:52 am @syngar98 I knew that the formula would die with Erskine, I just missed the mention of it in the movie.  Second time I saw it, I heard it.
July 22, 2011 5:37 pm The movie was OK.  Not great, but not terrible.  The major gripe I have is that Cap never felt like Cap to me.  He is never put in a leadership role.  I expected at least one scene where he rallies the troops or a scene where it is mentioned that people will follow him through anything.  Not Chris Evans' fault, the script never gave him a chance.

Did not feel at the end of the movie that this guy is the unquestioned field commander of the Avengers.  Cap gives battle orders to gods and egomaniacs in armor and they are followed.  Forgive me for using this term, but Cap lacked any gravitas.  The Avengers stuff at the end looked awesome.

Also, was it ever mentioned that Erskine memorized the formula and it died with him, which is why there is only one Cap?  I didn't remember hearing that.
June 18, 2011 7:29 pm Saw the movie twice.  Once at midnight with comic friends and another time Friday afternoon with my girlfriend, who asked to go.  I liked the movie.  Was not a classic, but was entetaining.  The costume and effects looked great (slightly brighter in 2d), seeing Hal and Sinestro and Kilowog brought to life was awesome.  The romantic subplot was weak and the training sequence WAY too short, but I think the movie mainly suffered from two bad villians in Parallax and Hector Hammond.  Mid-credit scene was awesome, but there isn't really a reason (in the movie) why Sinestro puts on the yellow ring.

All in all, I give it a 7.5 out of 10.  Give me the Sinestro Corps (and less Carol) in the next movie, I will be there.
June 7, 2011 9:25 am I see the logic in the boxing glove arrow argument, but I think getting KO'ed by the boomrang arrow would be slightly more insulting.  It has a boomerang on the tip of the arrow.  How do you not figure that out and turn around?

I would like to put in a vote for the Ultimate Nullifier.  If it makes Galactus turn tail and run just by pointing it at him, that's an object of power!   Also makes a great party trick.
April 18, 2011 7:13 pm I was hyped up when this movie came out.  Went to see it in IMAX, first show I could.  I was really disappointed by the time it was over.  There were good points, like the plane scene and the "bullet to the eye" shot.  The bad points REALLY outweighed the good for me.  Spacey could have been a great Luthor, but is saddled by a script that makes him a slave to the same boring land scheme used in the original.  The whole kid thing is repugnant.  To me, Supes is the gold standard of DC.  He's not a one-night stand guy, much less a one night stand before you leave the planet for five years.  He's (supposed to be) better than that.  It is supposed to be Truth, Justice and the American Way, not Truth, Justice and Limited Parental Visitation.  Supes stalking his kid at the end was the last straw for me.

In fact, this movie is so poor, it even crossed companies to hurt a Marvel movie - X3.  I can't help but think that if Marsden wasn't in Superman Returns, Cyclops might have survived.
February 8, 2011 11:26 am No love for General Eiling?
February 4, 2011 11:54 pm Has Gotham City ever been placed on a map in relation to other real world cities before?  It almost looked like it was in CT.
November 26, 2010 9:30 pm Another strong installment.  These guys are doing it right.
