Name: Travis Valentine

Bio: Hey... I'm Travis. There isn't a lot to say about me. My personality is essentially broken into just a few parts. I love and live for music. I love to play it, listen to it, and write about it. My dream is to someday be a music journalist but I'm also getting my masters in Library Science because I know that journalism isn't exactly a guaranteed career. So it's a bachelors in Journalism and I'll try and get work at a paper or something while I'm working on my masters. If it doesn't pan out, then I'll be a libraian, which there will always be work in. I love to read. I read a lot of non-fiction about music and pop-culture, I love Chuck Klosterman and I just finished "Love is a Mix Tape" by Rob Sheffield. Biographies of musicians are usually awesome, "Heart Full of Soul" by Taylor Hicks is amazing no matter what you think of him or American Idol, Cash by Johnny Cash is a classic. I also like to read fiction, mostly stuff about music or real human emotions and relationships. I read a lot of fiction targeted toward teenage girls... I dont care... I'm a married man, I'm not trying to impress anyone. I'm married (or at the time of writing this it's T minus 5 days until the wedding) to my beutiful wife Loren. I love local music, I grew up in the now pretty much defunct Local 432 scene in Flint. It got a lot of crap for being trendy when it was around but now that it's gone and it's generation are in their twenties everyone misses it. I still go to shows wherever they are as long as there's gas and money to buy CD's when I get there. My favorite band of all time (which is a lofty statement given the sheer ammount of music I listen to) are Flint band The Swellers. I have all three albums they've ever released and a live acoustic bootleg I recorded myself. I probably shouldn't say this because it may come off as creepy but I have a framed setlist of theirs on my wall from the album release show of their CD "My Everest". I love standup commedy as well, Patton Oswalt, Daniel Tosh, Lewis Black, Mike Birbiglia, a little Dane Cook if the mood is right. I play guitar and sing (not very well) but it's something I love to do. I play coffee shops and stuff when I get the motive or opportunity, I write songs and I play covers of folk, punk, and pop songs. I listen to A LOT of punk rock and other genres thereunder, but I am also a Hanson fan and will vigorously fight you to defend their merit as musicians until the end of time. I read comic books because I'm a giant nerd. I love the X-Men, Ultimate Spider-Man, Daredevil, The Green Arrow, and a few others. I hate Civil War and am sticking to the Ultimate universe until they reboot it sometime in the distant future. I'm also a singer/songwriter in the vein of Bob Dylan or Connor Oberst. Friend my music profile and say nice things about me... unless you don't like it, in which case friend it and pretend you like it. http://www.myspace.com/dustcoveredsoul
