May 2, 2016 11:56 am Ultimates #6: Holy crap, get Christian Ward off of that book NOW. I feel a little bad saying that, because I can appreciate originality in art. And I can even admit, Ultimates is probably one of the best landing spots for it, especially after reading the first few issues of ODY-C. But the faces look bizarre, the colors look like someone ate too many Skittles, the panel layouts are far too random (and not in an awesome Sorrentino way)...Please go back to Rocafort.
February 17, 2016 4:15 pm Well, don't I feel like a perfect git.
February 16, 2016 9:49 am I posted elsewhere that this is one of those movies where you absolutely CANNOT trust critic or audience scores to decide if you're going to go see it. It's almost as if they need a completely separate rating system on how you feel about Deadpool in general before going to see it (i.e. this film has a 87% DP approval rating). In a way, it's almost like you gauge whether or not you'll see it based on your opinion on Ryan Reynolds. Every once in awhile, certain actors are cast in comic roles that they were just tailor-made for, like Downey Jr. Reynolds was created to play Deadpool. It was terrible. And I couldn't have loved it more. I'll definitely be seeing it a couple more times in the near future. (By the way, the voice actor for Colossus was not German, but Croatian. But I also wish they'd gone with an actual Russian actor, wasn't the biggest fan of the guy they went with.)
February 15, 2016 4:38 pm So...was anybody else completely put off by the new art for Starfire #9? I get that having a more light-hearted feel to the book was appropriate for this book, but some of the panels just looked really weird. There are a couple in particular that had Kori's eyes significantly wide-set. Not a fan of the change.
January 18, 2016 5:24 pm I think the problem with Deadpool within Uncanny Avengers is one of over-saturation. I've managed to avoid this because I haven't been reading any of the gazillion team-ups like Deadpool v Thanos, Deadpool and Spiderman, etc. Indeed, while I loved my introduction to Deadpool via Comixology volume 3 sale, I never go out of my way to read his books. So I haven't really found myself rolling my eyes at him in this series. I complete agree with the podcast, too: Duggan is more than capable of writing good Deadpool. I'm loving the series.
