April 20, 2010 5:43 pm I'm not going to be upset by the hiatus, it seems like an opportunity to tell another interesting story. While I won't be reading about the characters in Nova and GOG, they will all appear, I assume, in the Thanos Imperative. In addtion, they will still have the same writers, who have also produced other enjoyable cross-over titles, like Annihilation and Annihilation Conquest. And if Nova and GOG never actually come back, well, they had a good run.
I really enjoyed this book. I've never read an Flash before. My only knowledge about the character comes from listen to Tom vs The Flash.
What are the child labor laws like in this city, though? The car wreck at the beginning almost crushes a juvenile construction worker.
Also, I thought the toothpaste ad was hilarious. It credited Robin with getting the girl, but they are both crying in the picture. Despair sex? That doesn't sound fun.
Loved the intro song, although it made me sad The Wire is over.
I want to address the question about defining comic book readers; I consider myself a comic book reader even though I stopped buying monthly books in the 90s and now get everything out of the library, or buy a collected edition if I really dig it. I'm saving for grad school and can't really afford to buy books every week.
September 25, 2008 2:41 pm I don't think they are mentioned in the column, but Stephenson's Baroque Cycle are also great reads. They are my favorite of his works, I'd have a hard time thinking of a better adventure tale in comics or regualar books. Potential readers: don't be scared off by their length, they are well worth the time.
BQ: Community, Parks and Recreation ( I hope it doesn't dissapear)
