Pick of the Week – 09.14.2011 – Demon Knights #1
September 16, 2011 8:31 am I have a question. Something in the first few pages confused me. It looked like the knight tossed Excalibur to the Lady in the Lake. He throws it, a hand grabs it, but then on the next page you just see the sword in the water with no one touching it. Then MX jumps in after it. I assumed she was going after it to take it from the Lady in the Lake but the hand/that character seemed to disappear. Did I miss something??

My Digital Comics Dilemma
September 13, 2011 1:59 pm @KenOchalek It looks like distance and price are both important factors affecting our move to digital. As it stands, my LCS is less than 15 minutes from my house so it's not a big deal for me to get there. Since I'm not saving any money on the cost of the book, and any cost associated with driving to the shop is negligible, I'm going to stick with paper for most of my titles. I enjoy going to the store and I get along great with they guy who works there. But if prices dropped I would have to reassess. I'd still pick up some books just to get out of the house, but more money in my pocket and less ads will affect how many floppies I get.

Justice League #1 is Best Selling Comic Book of 2011 & Other Numbers
September 13, 2011 8:17 am Well that's good news. Like I said, the issue wasn't bad I just wasn't looking for the "slow burn" right out of the gate.

Justice League #1 is Best Selling Comic Book of 2011 & Other Numbers
September 12, 2011 12:24 pm Should I take this cover to mean that Aquaman doesn't appear until issue #4? I understand what Johns is trying to do by showing us how this version of the JLA got together, but there is a big part of me that wishes the team was together and kicking ass right out of the box. I'm not really interested in going 6 or 7 issues before that happens. This is something we could have revisited down the road a bit.
The first issue was ok. Not terrible but not great. That was a problem. If I were a new reader I would have expected something more exciting for a first issue with a roster of DC's top guns.

What’s Wrong With You? Creator Owned Comics
September 2, 2011 3:38 pm @stasibal and @davidtobin100
I'm not sure what types of books you both like but I've really enjoyed Morning Glories by Nick Spencer and Joe Eisma. It's from Image. I think it may have been POW once or twice. Spencer is putting together a really engrossing mystery and the art is gorgeous. The cover work by Rodin Esquejo has been outstanding from the start as well. That's what drew me to the book initially.

What’s Wrong With You? Creator Owned Comics
September 2, 2011 2:12 pm "I’m saying it because you’ll probably really like it, since it suffused with the excellence of creative drive and hunger."
I couldn't agree with this more. It fascinates me (and not in a good way) that someone like Ed Brubaker can get so many people to follow him to any Marvel title he writes and yet struggle to get some of them to pick up Criminal.
I make it a point to try as many new books as possible. Not because I feel obligated, but because I know there are so many amazing books out there. Comics are a medium, not a genre. I like variety in my stack just as much as I like it in my DVD collection.

First Impressions: ‘Batman: Arkham City’ the Video Game
September 1, 2011 2:00 pm Normally I'd just order this from Amazon but I'm really considering pre-ordering it from Best Buy to get Robin as a playable character. Either way, I'm getting this game and saying goodbye to any free time for quite a while.
