Comics As A Hobby
May 16, 2013 7:39 pm I read everything I buy. Doesn't make sense to me o buy a book and not read it. It may take a little while but I get to all of the meventually.
I bag + board all my flimsies. A major part of my collection is trades and graphic novels but single issues always get bagged. I don't intend to sell them but thinking they could get damaged by age/humidity bothers me.
I get several items in my collection signed, be it trades, GNs, or individual comics. I try to get the creator to personalise it (for example: To Charlie - John Byrne). I know it doesn't increase it's overall value to anyone but me. But the way I look at it if you want a signed book go get it signed yourself. Buying a signed book and paying premium prices for it is like buying somebodies used movie ticket. The joy is in the experience, not the product itself. My favorite signed book at the moment (due to change at any given moment) is currently one by Dennis Hopeless even though I got more "successful" creators signatures mainly because he was fun to talk to about that book he signed for me.
If a trade gets signed I usually bag it (no need for a board) to keep it from getting wet or whatever. Otherwise no.
So there you have it, a reading collector. :P

CANCELPOCALYPSE! DC Brings The Hammer Down on LEGION OF SUPER-HEROES, THRESHOLD, DEMON KNIGHTS, & DIAL H
May 13, 2013 10:17 pm Johhny hit it right on the head. When the corporate overlords come to take all your profits and weigh your soul they get mad if they can't immediately make that payment on their Lamborghinis.

CANCELPOCALYPSE! DC Brings The Hammer Down on LEGION OF SUPER-HEROES, THRESHOLD, DEMON KNIGHTS, & DIAL H
May 13, 2013 9:45 pm What non-Superhero books is Marvel doing?
And the other companies? Walking Dead came in at #8, Saga at #27, Star Wars at #40, and East of West (?) at #46. That's four books total for non-Superheroes in the top 50 (none by Marvel) vs 46 Superhero titles. But for each of those titles the same companies have out a better selling Superhero book. (WD got beat out by Jupiter's Legacy).
Fact is across the boards nobody is selling non-Superhero stuff all that well. Walking Dead may not have even been in the top ten if it weren't for their AMC TV series.

DIAL H #12
May 5, 2013 7:43 pm Thisi s the kind of story I wish Mahmud Asrar would draw.
I like how they are discovering what we have known since #0, and that is their super identities are only 'borrowed' which could result in a tragedy in some other universe. Centipede Man has one of the most awesome powers out there. The story does seem a little disjointed but that is because we, the readers, know more about whats happening then the protagonists themselves do.
I like how the super identities are these badly done puns often times.

WORLDS’ FINEST #12
May 5, 2013 7:36 pm Or Aaron Lopresti. Y'know ... since Sword is due to be axed he will need a regular title and his art would only be a perfect match for this type of series.

WORLDS’ FINEST #12
May 5, 2013 7:33 pm We all want to see that. I hope when they finally meet they will devote most of an issue (at least) to it and not just a few panels. There is much character depth that can be uncovered in that instance alone for both vigilantes and I am a huge Huntress and Batman fan.

WORLDS’ FINEST #12
May 5, 2013 7:31 pm It has been rather good. There is an intriguing subplot going on since issue one where we hope to one day see Batman and Huntress meet. Huntress has been having very mixed feelings regarding her alternate world 'father' after seeing her true one die back on Earth 2. PG has been handling the alternate Earth 1(?) exremely well, taking some money they divested from Wayne and turning it into a Technical/Financial empire crossing the globe. Both are trying to get home to Earth2. It seems some entity has followed them from Earth 2 (could be very bad as this is possibly from the same fiends that killed off the Earth 2 heroes.)
