The art in this book was pretty solid. Most of the Deodato sequences were too dark, but the page layouts were interesting, and most of the narrative was clear. Scot Eaton's pages were simply fantastic; clear, sharp, and very easy to follow.
On the other hand, the story wasn't very enjoyable for me. The entire conept offers readers yet another in a looooong line of retcons for the X-Men frnachise. This time it's the idea that the reason why Wolverine joined the X-Men (way back in Giant Size X-Men #1) was to kill Professor X. Someday Marvel should publish an annotated edition of GSXM #1 that denotes all of the things that weren't as they appeared in that book. Too many of the writers and editors of the X-Franchise books are mired in the past and they simply need to allow these characters to move on and develop in "all new, all different" uncanny stories.
The scene were Logan attacks Cyclops and then Emma Frost was pitiful - why can't Mr. Way acknowledge that Logan has grown as a chracter and that he has some measure of self-control (isn't that why Dakken wants to stay with him in the first place?)? The closing splash page, the big reveal of this month's retcon, pretty much stabbed all of my interest in this story-line right in the heart. For those that this story was intended for, I hope that you enjoy it. But clearly I'm not part of the intended audience so I plan to sit this one out.
Art: 4 - Very Good

. . . Isn’t that ‘retcon’ taken from the Ultimate Universe.
I’m going to be working hard on refusing to acknowledge this.
I wish I hadn’t put ‘Legacy’ in my pull b/c I don’t even want anything to do with this crossover.
I’m with you all the way. I thought that Carey could at least make it palatable, but this is just bringing everything I hate about Wolverine: Origins closer to the mainstream X-Men universe, and it’s frustrating.
People who buy Daniel Way books have no one to blame but themselves.
I appreciate your sympathy Conor. I really do like the Scot Eaton art, but ultimately I don’t like it THAT much….
