Ok, it’s simple – X-Men Legacy by Christos Gage and David Baldeon is the French fries to W&TXM’s cheeseburger. Sure, you can eat a cheeseburger on its own, and W&TXM is one hell of a good cheeseburger, but sometimes a burger just isn’t enough. You need some salt and starch to fill you up. Likewise, you can’t really call French fries a meal in itself.

Now, If you love W&TXM, but aren’t usually an X-Fan, legacy might not be your thing. But if you are, or have been, a big fan of Marvel’s mutant books, and you aren’t reading Legacy, I think you’re kind of missing out.

Christos Gage isn’t doing “action-adventure romp” to the same extent as Aaron, but what he is doing is pretty fun in its own right, and does help complete the picture of everything happening in Westchester. And David Baldeon (with Jordi Tarragona inking and Sonya Oback coloring), while doing his own thing, is definitely in somewhat similar stylistic territory to Nick Bradshaw (and Chris Bachalo, to a lesser degree).

Wolverine and The X-Men gives me the same feeling I got when I first discovered the X-Men back in 1991, and while your mileage may vary,X-Men Legacy has been doing a very nice job keeping that feeling going just a bit longer each month.
