Thanks for doing your best to ruin another X-book for me, Mr. Land. I understand that you have problems drawing women with expressions other than pornface (in this issue: Domino, Emma, and Hope), but come on, Mr. Land: Why is Cable making an o-face? What were you thinking? And oh, yeah: If you did any research, you would know that Utopia is a ferrous island, not a formless void. I’d appreciate if, in future X-books, your backgrounds reflected that information.

Luckily, the writing is pretty solid. Carey does as good a job as ever flipping through a huge cast while somehow making everyone sound like themselves–though Storm sounds a little melodramatic in her scene. Cypher’s plotline plays out without any surprises, but there’s a genuinely unexpected, interesting plot beat toward the end, which is great in a crossover that’s occasionally felt too rote.

Too bad the art there is pretty terrible too.
