This will be the 2nd time in a row that a cover helped sell me on XMFC, and the 2nd time I was not disappointed in the issue. Craig Rousseau does a good job with the art, while keeping in the same style as Cruz’s previous work. The story is a solo adventure with Scott attempting to track down a rogue mutant (reading this and Wolverine First Class led to a bit of deja vu, but both are good on their own merit).

It was a fun story, but I would have liked Scott to shine a bit more. Also, a lot of time was spent on the backstory of Frederick, and yet I still felt like I didn’t know who he was. Jeff Parker’s strength seems to be in the team aspect of this title, but I do hope he tries more of these individual character studies, just hopefully he will have more to reveal in the next ones.

Story: 3 - Good
Art: 4 - Very Good
