Because I post my reviews before most people can go out and buy the comics, I try to put in as few spoilers as possible.  I try to focus more on things like “plot vs. character” or artistic Easter eggs than “OMG, in this issue Xorn turns out to be Magneto!!!WtF!?!?”

I don’t like things being spoiled for me.  It’s why I don’t read Previews, even though it’s part of my job to order comics.  I rarely even read the synopses/solicits that are posted on the iFanboy pages until after I’ve read the issues.

It as only a little over two years ago that Peter David was fighting mad that immoral d-bag bloggers were spoiling his comic, and damn it, he was not going to take it any more.  Given that, I’m surprised and disappointed that the solicits for this issue of X-Factor tell you absolutely everything that happens in this issue.  I’m really glad I didn’t read it first (don’t go look don’t do it!), it asks a bunch of questions, and I assumed the issue would focus on the answers to these somewhat rhetorical questions (sometimes eve rhetorical questions have surprising answers), but the issue just raises the questions that the solicit also raises.

Bummer.

On the plus side, the art on this issue was not awful.  It wasn’t memorably good, but being not awful puts it solidly ahead of any X-Factor issue in months.  Possibly years.

Story: 4 - Very Good
Art: 3 - Good

  1. Thankfully, I don’t read solicitations or reviews … before I read my comics at least … this was a great issue, except the art wasn’t quite up to par …
