Much like the other X-books, I really wish they’d devote a better artist to this title.  David’s script and plotting is tight.  This is the first issue since Brubaker introduced Darwin where I found the character as interesting as the idea of the character.  This tie-in is a much better story than the main Second Coming arc, which is as a testament to David’s writing, as well as a reminder that well-plotted stories are better served by a concise cast of characters.

  1. Honestly? To date, I can’t remember reading one issue of X-factor that I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the art.  I think it’s always been seen as a B or C book with a cult following.  That is, to the publishers.

  2. I actually think Valentine De Landro is one of the better artist to work on the title.  Fits it pretty well.  Didn’t enjoy Bing Cansino’s work though and the series has been struggling to find a steady artist since it quickly lost Ryan Sook.  Pablo Riamondi had a decent run, I guess he couldn’t keep up though.

  3. @vadamowens & stasisbal: I liked the art in the first few arcs.  I think. It’s been a while.  I certainly didn’t think "Wow, this is atrocious." until the first arc with Darwin.  Since then, though, this appears to be the book where Marvel sends their z-level artists.

  4. I must re-emphasize that I said ‘thoroughly’ enjoyed.  I’ve never hated it with the exception of the SI arc.  It’s obviously not a priority book.
