This was an incredible ending to an incredible Wolverine story. It’s probably the best Wolverine story I’ve ever read. I would say that it was -almost- worth having to wait a couple of months to read (How long has it been since the previous issue of this arc? Two months? Three?).

The artwork is fantastic- McNiven shows us what he does best: rendering characters and environments with painstaking detail. It really makes the difference in creating the mood of the story. I found myself about as amazed at how he draws fingernails in scenes where the main focus is something completely different.

So, the story is gruesome and vengeful, but that’s just how I like it, and I’m pretty sure Millar knows it. It’s also got a cool ending that hints at more bad ass adventures to come.

I’m hoping Millar is down for some alternate-universe stories of some other characters. I’ll be the first in line to read it.
