So it all comes to an end.

This has been one of my favorite books of 2008, I must say. A real surprise for me too, because prior to Welcome To Hoxford #01, I didn’t know who Ben Templesmith was. Oh how unfortunate that was.

Everything here is tip top as usual. It ends just the way I wanted it to, and although I would like to have more information in general, I think I’d be totally comfortable for the rest of my life knowing this issue was the last I’d ever read of Welcome To Hoxford.

For anyone reading this who hasn’t read the book yet, I’d highly suggest waiting for the trade. I think if you were weary about this (not a fan of Templesmith, horror, etc.), it’ll read much, much better for you in trade. I’m personally hoping for a hardcover, but we’ll see.

As a critique I will say that, although I enjoy Mr. Templesmith’s art, sometimes I feel that a more traditional style would benefit the more action-oriented scenes. His art is all his own and has a certain feel to it in static or gory panels, but I sometimes feel like a little something is missing in the action panels. Maybe it’s just me.

Highly recommended.
