When I heard about this weeks ago, I was very excited. The first issue does not disappoint. There are stories for characters at the forefront of DC, and among them the Batman and Superman stories particularly interested me. The art in Superman – by Bermejo – is absolutely stunning. Stories from other characters in the DC Universe are also contained.

While it’s early to speak too much to the stories (only one page per story!), the art for each story looks great, and it’s interesting to see how the 12 different artists have chosen to use the space in this format. Some, like Batman, stick to traditional Sunday comic box format while others, such as Deadman, do amazing things with just one page.

DC publicized this as reinventing the Sunday comic section, and if this first issue is any indication, they have not disappointed. I cannot wait for next week!
