Alright, well earlier in the week I stated that this issue was ‘fucking amazing!’ and that’s Ron pick was poor in comparison. Well this is still much better then Sword #9, but it’s not as amazing as I thought it was.

But why am I giving this a 5 and not lower? Cause I love this series and I think for a 50th issue, Kirkman is definitely trying to sway us in a new direction with this series. With Rick out of the action, for now, we get to see the mind of his little son, who now has to protect and save his dad. It’s a nice difference from the norm as seeing the eyes of a zombie nightmare with a little boy can be very creepy. There were more ‘don’t open that door!’ moments then any type of ‘holy shit!’ moments we’ve seen in the last few issues. But what I liked about it is that Kirkman is obviously changing the guard with this series and that Carl will most likely be our main focal point for the series. Even if that’s not the case, I see very little use left with Rick and even if he does live threw this recent ordeal, we have to add the equation of the other character’s untimely death and think that he can go at any time.

For a 50th issue this was pretty calm, and if you want more bang for your buck for 50th issues, then go get Kirkman’s Invincible. This book proves though that you can write an incredible story with very few gore, zombies, and just an internal struggle with a little boy. Definitely my Pick of the Week.

Story: 5 - Excellent
Art: 4 - Very Good
