Thanks to a screw up through Diamond, my shop didn’t get issue #13 until this week, so last night, I was able to sit down and read this story in a chunk. So far, I find the story intriguing. There’s enough going on here to keep me interested, although I will say that this isn’t the greatest “crossover” I’ve ever read. This issue specifically continues the story of Hell invading Earth with our heroes continuing to face off against their Antitheses. The action is brisk and there’s a lot going on, which keeps me turning the pages. My major complaint about this issue is that there are parts of it that just feel off. Whether its a piece of dialogue or a panel of art, there’s just something missing to make this completely special. Also, on a personal level, I HATE this new Ghost Rider chick, and the fact that she makes the choice she does at the end of the issue annoys me a bit. If you really look at it, it’s a blantant way to keep the story going, and I guess I find it a bit cheap. With this many writers working together, couldn’t they have found a more creative way to keep the fight going? That one plot point aside, I am curious what has happened to the other characters who all went through some crazy stuff in this issue. After picking up this many issues, I’m in for the rest of the series, and my hope is that the creators can take this series to the next level and deliver something that goes to a place I don’t anticipate.
