This issue – much like the last one – reminded me why The Unwritten remains among my favorite new ongoing series. Unlike issue #12 – a beautifully drawn done-in-one story in an out of the way corner of The Unwritten’s universe – this issue served to refocus and finally advance many of the series’ disparate plot threads from its first year.
Peter Gross’ art is solid as a rock and Todd Klein’s letters are as inspired as usual. I especially enjoyed the first two pages – segments from “DNN’s” 24-hour coverage of the fourteenth Tommy Taylor book’s impending release. (Keep an eye out for the more important news stories scrolling along the bottom the screen in each panel.)
All in all, this issue builds on the momentum of #12, advances a plot that has so far moved ahead remarkably slowly, and heralds a return to form for this awesome book.

Story: 5 - Excellent
Art: 4 - Very Good
