UNKNOWN SOLDIER #5

I’m still not quite sure how to feel about Unknown Soldier. It’s a title that has been slowly building over the months, and while I’ve enjoyed parts of it, I haven’t found myself quite smitten with it yet. I type yet because Vertigo books have this way of sneaking up on you, and before you know, you can’t get enough of the story. This issue took a step in that direction, opening up the story a little bit and giving us a glimpse of just what is truly going on. While this book is steeped in current geo-political problems, there seems to be an underlying mystery that will play a part in this story. I’m finding myself slowly entering into this story, like getting into a cold pool. I really enjoyed the brief glimpse of mystery, and I’m excited to see where the action is going to lead us. I can imagine that the next issue well have impactful resolutions that could send the series somewhere interesting. I hope Dysart can do it.

Story: 4 - Very Good
Art: 3 - Good

Comments

  1. ….Is this an ongoing or a mini?

It sounds like to me, reading your review and past reviews, that this is somewhat declining a bit in quality. Or I’m reading into your score too deeply idk.

  2. I’m pretty sure its an ongoing.  I actually thought the story was very good in this issue.  Probably one of the strongest, but the art felt like it was all over the place.  I still gave the book fours stars because of my enjoyment of the story.
