(Heads up: The solicit is an incorrect description of the events in this book. It is avenger and prison break free.)

Having been largely away from the X-Men for about eighteen months, I was disappointed to see Greg Land is still the artist. His aliens and inhuman characters (such as the Cytorakked Colossus) look great, but I don’t think I’m ever going to enjoy the way he draws human faces.

I’ve also not been a huge fan of Gillen’s work. His Image work never appealed to me, and previous to this, the only Marvel work I’d read by him was SWORD, which I thought was just okay.

I’m happy to discover that I love this issue of Uncanny enough that I’m going to try and track down his full run, Land art bedamned. I want to know both how the X-Men got to this point, and where they’re going.I don’t think it’s going to surpass Wolverine & The X-Men (which I read all of a couple weeks ago) as my favorite, but I’m enjoying it a lot more than any of the Matt Fraction issues.

  1. Welcome back buddy:) Wasn’t the same without you.

    • I missed this site, too. I tried checking it out occasionally when I wasn’t reading comics but, apart from a few scattered issues of Chew and The Fantastic Four that one of my friends had, I had almost zero connection with comics. I even tried watching one of the fabulous iFanboy video shows, and thought “What the hell are they talking about?” And I knew I just needed to stay away until I could immerse myself again.

What have you been reading that’s been awesome?
