"Second Coming" seems like a retread of plot elements last seen in the 1990s, brought back in a "greatest hits" format. Bastion, Hodge, Creed, Stryker, Trask, Lang -- am I supposed to think any one of these guys can tie their own shoelaces, much less dispatch three teams of X-Men?The Terry Dodson art is handsome, if ill-suited for the X-Men, but Matt Fraction is encumbered by a poor plot, even while he is able to maintain accurate characterization for the motley crew of mutants running around looking for Cable and Hope. Speaking of Hope, we're years out of the Messiah Complex storyline, and I still have no idea what Hope is supposed to furnish the mutants with -- other than yet another MacGuffin.
