Matt Fraction writes the most inconsistent X-characters I think I’ve ever read.  It’s almost as if he’s read years of X-Men continuity, but every issue forgets the ones that he, himself, wrote.  Whereas his previous issues had Magneto kneeling before Cyclops, and Cyclops shutting down Professor Xavier because he trusts Magneto completely, this issue has Cyclops informing Magneto that he can’t be trusted, and Professor X defending him.  It’s dizzying.  And, oif course, Land’s art sucks.

  1. You said it. Fraction’s characterization is awful. When Magneto bowed before Cyclops, some readers were trying to excuse that as some sort of smart play on Fraction’s part. It wasn’t: Fraction just doesn’t know the characters. He barely thinks of anything beyond "What cool things can I have them do or say THIS issue?", without regard for what happened years before or even a month before. Personally I don’t even think he’s read many past X-Men issues. In interviews of his I’ve heard, he’s said some blatantly false things about some characters (like, "Emma was never really a villain to begin with").

  2. Yea, I can’t wait for Fraction’s run to end.  Don’t know who they’ll replace him with.

  3. Hopefully Kyle and Yost

  4. I agree 100% with Cutty.  Put Kyle & Yost on Uncanny.

  5. Let me third that statement.

  6. I fourth it.  I would love that.

  7. Fifth it and I hope after Second Coming!

  8. How do you make a Wolverine/Psylocke/Colossus fight with a Predator unexiting? By having the fight done off-panel by a boring character like Fantomex! Great work, Matt.

  9. @coltrane: Exactly.
