Overall, this doesn't hold a candle to the "final issue" of a year ago. The story focuses only on a few characters -Cyclops, Danger, Unit, Colossus and Magik. In terms of important things: Unit disappears, Danger empties the Brig of all inmates, Magik permanently removes Cyttorak's influence from her brother, and "Kate Kildare" shows up to taunt Cyclops in prison (which makes more sense when you see who's taken her place, as it ties back to the 1st issue of this volume). That's it. No reflections, no solid emotional notes, nothing. The closest we get is Colossus sitting amidst the ruins of the Phoenix Farm in Siberia, which would have made for some great story, but nope, nada, zilch. For this being the actual last issue of Uncanny X-Men for the forseeable future, and for wrapping up the AvX storyline from an X-Men perspective, this was a major let down. Beside the lack of emotional impact, absolutely nothing about many of the other characters and what's happened to them -no Magneto, no Betsy, no Hope. I'm sure they'll be covered in "Consequences", but they were major characters in THIS book, and if there were ever a place to wrap up THEIR stories to date it should have been HERE. Major missed opportunity and a sad way to go out - not with a bang, but a weak and lifeless whimper.
