I was a bit skeptical of this series after the first issue. I have never really been able to get into Uncanny X-Men before, no matter who is writing it, but I liked Gillen’s work on Generation Hope enough to give it another chance, and I’m glad I did.

Sinister is one of my favorite villains in X-Men, but its rare to find an actually good and clever story, and this one is. It really plays on his background as a geneticist, showing him creating his own species to fight it out with mutantkind. It gets a little long winded in the middle, but its creative enough to pull you into it until the action ramps up a bit towards the end. I’ll definitely be sticking around for at least a few story arcs.
