Well, for one, this really should have been 17.1. Because the United We Stand portion of Ultimate Spider-Man isn't even finished yet. That said, this was a great issue. Marquez and Ponsor are still knocking it out of the park with the art and colors, and the story was a great set up for the return of Venom. Oh, and Ultimate Betty Brant is now dead. She earned that, honestly. She was only out to profit, no matter if she ruined someone's life and the life of his family. And that was all under the assumption that Miles' dad was Spider-Man. Which brings me back to my first statement about this really being too early. Because this story is clearly post "United We Stand." Because we saw in issue 16 that Jefferson was placed in S.H.I.E.L.D. custody for disobeying agents cordoning off an area around his home. As a journalist myself, (well, graphically, anyway), even I know that any reporter worth their salt would have researched that little tidbit. Seeing as how Jefferson was locked up and Miles was very much with the Ultimates, there's no way she would have determined Spidey's I.D. correctly. So, that's sloppy writing and timing. That's the only thing that made this a 4 for me instead of a 5.
