Flipping through this before I read it, I became very intrigued by the images I saw. This Ultimate Trilogy that Bendis is writing has been nothing short of a fantastic read. I’m a Loeb fan through and through, but I kinda feel like this “event” in the Ultimate universe will have a greater impact than Ultimatum did. And I LOVED Ultimatum.

But…

…when I finally read this issue, I was left unsatisfied. As with issue 4 of the first mini Ultimate Enemy, there is no closure with this issue. And the “reveal” of the Enemy came an issue earlier. Only to have it revealed to certain characters several times throughout the issue. A lot of ground was retread in this issue and because this group of mini series is just an overarching stroy, it should have just been an 12 issue mini. That way, with this being issue 8, I might not have felt cheated by nothing really happening.

So overall, in the grand scheme, the series gets a A+, this issue however, gets a B-. I still enjoyed it, it just didn’t provide any new info for me.

Sandoval had stellar art as usual. It’s almost a shame he didn’t follow Bagley and Immonen on this title, he has a similar tone to his art.

Story: 3 - Good
Art: 5 - Excellent
