Somewhere in the last few months, the strangest thing happened: this title got good. I was one of those who dropped Trinity early on because of the pacing and dullness issues. I started reading again a month ago, because the Evil Earth storyline had some rave reviews. At first, I thought, "this is solid enough book, I'll stay with it."
Then the current storyline started, and out of nowhere this book was great. It's Elseworlds without the logo or the Earth 70045 tag. If 52 was "The Year Without Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman," then this takes that idea and expands it backwards forever.
This issue, we find out what Alfred was like without Batman. A hint: he's awesome.
In recent issues, the lame character Konvict was made interesting with a twist on his history, and the backups have highlighted normal characters in a "Marvels" style "man on the street" way.
The art continues to be solid. Not stellar, not offensive. It gets out of the way of the story, though, and that's sometimes enough to ask.
If you dropped this back at the slow beginning, give last issue a shot. You won't be disappointed.

You said it Quinn, it’s become the first book I read every week cause I can’t wait to see what’s next.
This book is really great. It’s weekly with an engrossing story that ties in so many great characters in the DCU. I’m really glad I’m still reading this book. It’s always the first book I read when I get home. Gets me in the comic spirit.
