The last issue of transformers ongoing made it into the top five of the pick of the weeks during what was a mediocre week for comics. The fact that it was there was put down to the quality of its rivals by Ron and I understand why. This issue however is my pick of the week amongst a great week of comics.
ongoing has my loyalty regardless of quality because transformers are my geek sweet spot. The series has tested my loyalty as it has been mediocre and Rons throwaway line was fair. The last issue and the chaos upcoming story feels like the series finally has a direction and real editorial control. Issue 23 has confirmed this.
The series is getting to the heart of the myth. What goes on in the head of Optmus Prime, not as a robot, but as a sentient being prepared to defend the right of freedom. It gives Prime a more complicated relationship with Megatron and introduces a little grey into their black and white. Prime pleaded using Megatrons words to the rulers os cybertron. Prime believed in Megatron for a moment.
I hope the maturity of this story continues and I hope more people read the book, maybe even Ron would enjot this issue because it deserves its place, currently third on the pick of the week polling by the community. Oh and the art has stopped trying to movie verse the characters which is an added bonus

Story: 5 - Excellent
Art: 5 - Excellent
