This is the best Marvel NOW book. Period. Anyone who tells you any different is a dirty liar and you should unfriend them from Facebook, slash their tires and spit in their food.

The decision to give Thor his own title is not surprising in the least, but to set it entirely outside of the events of the Marvel universe is gutsy, what with all the movie tie-ins and attempts to continue cashing in on the Avengers. However, it was a risk that paid off in the form of one of the best comics in years.

That aside, this is a review for issue four, so I shall move onto that. So far we’ve seen Thor across three timelines, all confronted by the same merciless god-killer. While young Thor and old Thor are being shown in the lowest points and moments of vulnerability, current Thor is hot in pursuit of his enemy which ends with him face-to-face with the god he is to become.

Jason Aaron has a track record of great work, and here is no different. He’s able to truly capture all that is Thor, and not just Thor, but Thor in three different ages. A difficult task for any lesser writer. It also helps immensely having an amazing artist backing you up, such as Ribic. His art style is astounding to look at and is dynamic even during scenes of exposition, and yet incredibly fluid when the action hits. This is a duo to be admired.

This issue continues the best story in Marvel to date and, if anything, adds to the three previous issues to make the book that much better. Go out and pick up this issue, no matter what, even if you haven’t read the first three issues. The only difference being that have you not read them, you also have to buy those as well. Seriously you guys. This book is the bee’s knees.

  1. I could not agree more with your review. This is one of the Best Marvel Now Re-Releases to date.

  2. DC New 52 has Scott Snyder’s Batman and Marvel Now has Jason Aaron’s Thor:God of Thunder.
