As a connoisseur of terrible Hawkman series i can tell you that Carter Hall’s adventures have officially gone from depressingly mediocre to facepalmingly bad.

A brooding personallity-lacking inner monologue kills much of this issue, Liefeld & Poulton make Hawkman sound like a dull teenager attempting a Phillip Marlowe impression. bizarrely obtuse, anyone hoping to jump on here will find little help.

Artwise Joe Bennett makes a meal of the fight scenes, cluttered and heavy with digital effets, though it’s not his fault that Hawkman’s over-designed outfit makes him look like an aztec hood ornament.

Savage Hawkman #9 is a dud, on the plus side for the character Hawkman will be appearing in Justice League before long and Geoff Johns is the only writer in the past twenty years to get him right. sigh.

Story: 1 - Poor
Art: 2 - Average
