Ladies and gentlemen this great piece of work by Mr. Matt Fraction was my pick of the week. I didn’t know where Matt Fraction was gonna do with Tanarus when he was first introduced in the teasers. Was he going to be Thor’s sidekick, new villain, or would he replace Thor for a while? In this issue we learn of Tanarus’, if that’s his real name, goals. My favorite parts of these last few issues are the segments involving Loki. He’s playing the little detective trying to learn why everyone forgot about Thor and his best moment in this issue, in my opinion, is when he stumbles upon Silver Surfer, whom has regained his powers, while he’s letting vultures eat his guts and Loki has taken a staff from Donald Blake. It turns out this staff is actually Thor’s hammer. What I love about this book is how since Thor died it’s become a mystery book. Where is Thor, why has everyone forgotten him except for Loki, why is Tanarus going to blah blah blah. What’s also great is the art team which similar to the Incredible Hulk book is alot of people, but only five people work on the art in this book. This book deals with magic and mystical elements so why wouldn’t you make it seem like a unicorn threw up on the pages? Frank D’Armata, Frank Martin and Wil Quintana add alot of colors to the panels, but they don’t overdo it. Pasqual Ferry and Pepe Larraz’s art is probably the best at Marvel, but my only complaint is that they could work on how they draw Iron Man. It looks like the Ultimate version but the inks don’t work for the suit like it does in the Ultimates book. It’s great that the disappearance of Thor was immediately put in the story and not looked at months later. It looks like next issue Thor’s gonna get thundr god on a Demi Gorge’s ass. This was the last book I read and it was a good choice to read this last for the year 2011.

  1. I agree with you, this was a good book! I’m in the process of moving to a new city, so with all the extra expenses going on, I’m looking to cut back on my monthly comics. With Thor “dying” and this Tanarus showing up, I thought this book was a gonner, but this issue pulled me back in. Fun story, nice dialog, and great art. Ferry’s version of Spidey looks awesome! 2 enthusiastic thumbs up!
