PROS:

-This is one fucked up story. That is a positive by the way so let me explain. Last issue I loved because it was pure Steve Gerber. It was strange, disturbing, but enjoyable all the same. In this issue, Gerber decided to up the ante with the disturbing because a lot of blood is spilled in this issue. I won’t say what happened but god damn it got me by surprised and made me shudder a bit. Apart from the gore though I am starting to get what Gerber is getting at with this story and it’s helped by the reprinting of the back up.

-Thank god Kevin Nowlan stuck to his guns and stayed with this series. Cause I can’t think of anyone else who can draw this series like he can. I love his painted style and it totally fits the mood of this story. He can handle the gruesome stuff as well as the silly things. If you like cartoony figures like Spongebob then I got the mini-series for you!

CONS:

-While the back up is enjoyable, it is a bit tough to get through. It opens with a huge prose piece and it only gets more straining from there. Again, I got used to it and the story was making more sense as I read it. But this was the only downside to Gerber’s writing in that he can ramble at times when he wanted too.

CONCLUSION:

-I’m a bit bummed that I’m 1 out of 131 people who pulled this. Why on Earth are more people not buying this? For once Marvel has gone outside the box and this is such an amazing mini to read. While this isn’t ‘Pick of the Week’ for me it’s still a fantastic issue with a lot of disturbing elements and gorgeous art. If you want more then just Avengers and X-Men fighting then I heartily recommend reading this mini.

Story: 4 - Very Good
Art: 5 - Excellent
