I was really looking forward to this issue, especially with what a great cover it has, but after reading it, I find myself a bit disappointed. I know that Powell has always tried to have single issue stories, and since coming back regularly, he has been knocking it out of the park each month. But this issue is crazy wordy, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing unless the words are kinda boring. I found this to be the case in this issue. Powell is usually known for his brand of humor, which I always enjoy in his comics, but a lot of the jokes fell flat for me this time around and the story is overly complicated. It seems like he had a lot of ideas for this issue, but just didn’t find much room to cut them out.

The other problem with the issue being so wordy is that all those text boxes cover all of his gorgeous art. Here his images are crammed into tiny panels that are filled with words. I love the stories and the humor in this book, but I come back for his gorgeous, painted art work. Here I found only a few panels that really wowed me when usually I’m drooling through the whole issue.

The good news is that this was one issue, and it was the first one that was average for me in a long time. The great thing about this book is that each issue brings something new to the table, so I know I won’t have to worry about this being six months long. With the next issue, I hope he can bring the book back to its normal level of quality.
