I’m new to the Terry Moore party, having only begun to look at his work with this title.  And while I’ve enjoyed all of the issues in this series so far, I found myself a little bit disappointed in this effort.  My main complaint comes from the art side of things.  This issue just felt rushed…like super rushed…like rushed with a side of quickness.  His lines are sketchy, the movement and action pieces are awkward, and the pace of the book just felt a little too fast.  The last four issues showed a really controlled, very well paced story, but for me, this issue displayed none of those things.

The pacing of the story stems more from the story side of things as Moore tries to cram a ton into this issue.  While I appreciate that he’s trying to give me my bang for my buck, I just can’t wrap my head around how quickly the characters are flowing in the story.  One minute, Dillon and Julie are being attacked by the military, the next they’re driving down a highway as Julie’s diary entry talks of love and regret.  Love?  Didn’t they just meet?  Is this a diary entry from the future?  I are confused.  I’m also really interested in who these conspiracy folks are, but Moore doesn’t spend much time in trying to paint their side of the story.  They’re relegated to two pages this issue, which is disappointing considering I want more.

That’s not to the say that the whole issue is bad.  It just wasn’t as good as the past few.  I’m still on this book, but I hope next issue doesn’t feel so rushed, and the story is given some time to breath.

  1. Wow.

  2. "Wow."

Translated from Conor talk I think that means "you’re wrong". 😛

  3. Ha!  Actually, I’m pretty sure everyone disagrees with me on this one.

  4. DOn’t be confused Neb, I think the "diary" entry is in fact the conciousness of Annie.  Or at the very least an "Echo" of Annie within the Metal thing, which is affecting Julie’s emotions.

  5. @CAM

That’s exactly what I was going to say. We’re finally getting around to exploring the series’ namesake.

  6. @CAM and Davetron3k~  My mind is just blown.  I totally didn’t even think of that.  I wonder: Am I dumb or did this need to be more evident?
