We get introduced to a guy that can throw a grenade three feet from where he's lying on a box of rockets and survive and fly and land in the water next to the coast where a submarine is waiting for him.
After that bit he is chosen to lead a team in a mission deep in Nazi territory and we get introduced to his team in a Armageddon (the movie - 1998) style and we learn they are a rootin tootin gun slinging USA boys that resemble the huge weird Cable that John Romita Jr drew in Cable #1 & #2 (Blood & Metal) which you can see in Cable Classic TP Volume 1.
They are tough, buff good ol' boys, USAs finest - brave men proficient in combat, that like to drink and smoke and gamble!
They are sent to a village that is occupied by the Nazis at the end of the war - why, I have no idea. The mission goes wrong and some of the team are separated and they have to regroup and the whole thing turns to a bloodbath when the Russians appear and even the British somehow are not far behind.
The comic is filled with things that don't make sense, and with the most stupid obvious over used text that made me cringe each time - it really hurts. It is taking the second world war and turns it into an action movie where each character is Rambo and turns it into a B movie. This is yet another "USA is number one!" plot but now in a comic form.
This comic is the result of taking every crappy action movie and joining them together and you're left with a crappy plot to begin with that gets worse with each word balloon you read. If you hate someone this is the comic to get him for Christmas.
At a first glance the art looks okay but this is a 5 point scale and I can't give it a Good rating. Each person is a mountain of muscles and there are pouches galore.
Also there are a few things that are really weird that people should have caught - there are a few panels where the snow on the trees is purple for some reason - I thought maybe it's a glow from a TV since there is one panel that seems to look like it's a glow but it doesn't explain the other panels. When people are small the artist draws them like stick figures - like the AIM logo if he was a pirate with sharpened wooden legs and hands. Also there is somewhere where a sniper looks through the scope and sees Nazis unloading two trucks and after a few seconds he looks again and he somehow teleported to the other side and made a building disappear and then teleports back to his original position. There is a panel where a soldier falls from a snowy hill with his gun and for some reason his gun has shrunken in size and changed shape a little.
I just can't give the art a "Good". If you like a stupid action movie, where the US are portrayed as super heroes, and the plot is nonsensical, and has the most cringing teeth gritting, headache causing text, this is just for you.
In my opinion this is something you throw to the bin (trash can) or send to the company that published it (WildStorm) with a very graphic cartoon strip that might get you arrested (if I didn't need the money from the resale of this crap).
Art: 2 - Average
