A decapitated hooker.  Godly incest.  And a sword with magical powers.  I wonder if these are the things that the Luna Brothers pitched when looking for a way to publish the book.  These are certainly things that will garner attention, be it positive or negative, and it’s pretty apparent that this book has my undivided attention, especially after this issue.

The series so far has been really fast paced and action packed while plugging in little nuggets of character along the way.  I was a bit disappointed with last month’s issue, but this month, oh this month was pretty damn awesome.  This issue picked up on plot threads that have been laid since the very first issue, and as Dara and her friends search for one of the three god children, you can feel the story building to what’s going to be an awesome moment.  This issue continues the bread crumb trail left by these stories, and I was picking them up and shoveling them in my mouth as fast as I could.  If you’ve been reading the series, take a look at that final page and tell me you can’t wait to find out what happens.  I dare you to not get “the shakes.”

There isn’t much new to say about the art besides the fact that it’s still pretty damn amazing.  I really liked the coloring this month as it seems they have taken on a brighter, more diverse pallette.  This book just looked damn good this month.

If you haven’t been reading this series, track down the back issues to catch up.  It’s a great monthly series.  If you forego that, make sure to pick this up in trade because it is one hell of a ride.

  1. I didn’t like last month’s particularly or the first few pages of this one.  As soon as they got rid of that family on the boat things picked up dramatically.  What a criminally underhyped book!

  2. Yeah, I agree with the family.  All those parts felt really forced, and each of the character’s seemed very much like cliches.  The worried parents and the kids that want to follow the violence.  I’ve seen that in every story ever featuring a hero that runs into a family.

But once those losers were dropped, this issue soared.
