With their classic comic panel layout, and their well chosen coloring and shadow play, The Luna brothers just keep getting better.  I was a latecomer to the Ultra bandwagon, but adored the series.  And Girls was a cool premise that got a little…off-track.  But The Sword has been a consistently strong story, that reads like a well-written TV sci-fi serial. .

Like every issue thus far in the series, it clears up the cliffhanger from the previous issue (Dara has had her legs cut off by Zakros), and what follows is a nearly issue long battle that never gets boring to read.

This series has been my employee pick at work about five times now, and no one I’ve recommended it to has said they didn’t enjoy it.

Can’t wait to see what they do next month.

Story: 5 - Excellent

  1. I don’t agree about "Girls". I was fully engrossed in that series for every issue.

But the Sword is damn good.

  2. It veered off for me.  I never disliked it, but the end didn’t seem as strong as the beginning. Whereas Ultra was just aces from beginning to end.
