It’s storybook time in the Sweet Tooth universe. Jeff Lemire goes with a sideways issue and fairy-tale narration for one of the crucial parts of any post-apocalyptic tale: The running-through-the-abandoned-mall scene. Picture the supermarket montage from 28 Days Later and you can imagine what a breath of fresh air this is, a light palate-cleanser after the grim Animal Armies storyline before it. Lemire still finds time for some great character moments to show us how much Sweet Tooth has grown up and is coming to terms with Jepperd’s betrayal. It’s only going to get colder as they make their way to Alaska, so enjoy the warm fuzzy moments while they last.
