Alright, so I can see how the new (or new temporary) status quo is going to work out over there in the Action Comics publication. It’s not actually called, “Superman” so as long as there is action in it, it lives up to it’s name.  Plus the creators make a fine line up as well.

Superman #686 on the other hand, MEH.  I never had any interest in The Guardian since the first time I read about him in comic called The Legacy Of Superman back in the early 1990s.  I was only like 12 years old back then and I wasn’t impressed with him one little bit.  He’s just boring.  I don’t like the look of him.  His origin is just bland.  If they ever put Guardian in a solo title (I’m not sure if they ever have or not), I doubt that it would sell more then nine copies.  So why ruin a title that already sells a decent amount of books with that kind of boring slop? It just doesn’t make any sense!
This MonEl guy just isn’t going to do it for me. I don’t know much about him, and I’m not about to hurry over to Wikipedia to learn more about him either.  Okay, so the guy just got out of the phantom zone and now he’s the new protector of Metropolis.  It feels more like a story about a homosexual who is coming out of the closet and announcing his sexual orientation to the rest of the world.  Jimmy Olsen, I wouldn’t bend over for any quarters in a back alley of Metropolis anytime soon.  He knows just where to find you with that little present of a watch he got you, buddy.
I can stand John Henry Irons, but he definitely wasn’t my favorite replacement Superman from the Reign Of The Supermen arc.  Whatever happened to the Eradicator?  Is he still around?  He was a hell of a lot more interesting of a Superman replacement during the Reign Of The Superman story then Steel ever was, why not take him off the back burner instead?
Yes, I’m getting that feeling again.  That feeling when you take a title, put it on the your good old block, and CHOP!  World Of New Krypton, Supergirl, and Action Comics are still plenty readable though.  Three out of four isn’t half bad at all, it’s only a quarter bad.

Story: 1 - Poor

  1. Hater!

  2. Hmm… I’m gonna keep giving this a chance for a few more issues….  Action Comics is the one I thought may be chopped first for me… we shall see.  Supergirl and Superman:World of New Krypton rock though.

  3. A little harsh, but I guess you’re the one who’s missing out.

  4. Missin what? If it gets better, I’ll just buy the trade.  I’m not POOR.  I got a computer and enough time to play with this website, don’t I/
