I had to try this out….what a waste. It felt like a 60 page story that never wanted to end. I found it very dense, small panels, tough to keep reading. I dunno, Superman #1 should have been epic action. This was just soooo sloooooooowwww and stale.

Lots of little details like “Twittering” and the constant newspaper/print evangelism really made it feel like it was written by an old fuddy duddy who doesn’t like the 21st century very much. This really is just the opposite direction of where the New 52 Superman #1 needed to go. A younger fresher voice to reinterpret a 75 yr old character would have been the smarter play.

The art was ok, but nothing memorable. Dense story forced the artists hand i’m sure into making cramped, dense panels.

I’ll have to wait to try this title again in 6 months when they get a new creative team which makes me kinda bummed out.

  1. Yeah, I also found it disappointing. Was such a chore to read, it shouldn’t be like that. This is a Superman comic, for God’s sake – not a “Lou Grant” episode co-starring (oh yeah) Superman and (not again) a hard-assed Lois.
