WOW this was super! This issue alone could be a movie, but only if they didn’t change a damn thing which is what they usually don’t do. DAMN YOU HOLLYWOOD!! I still haven’t forgiven you for what you did to Deadpool. Anyway this was a decieving cover which made Konnor look like a manufactored machine from Verizon. Under the cover was the best damn story of the new 52 I’ve read so far. I’m one of the people DC acquired because of the 52 and I had no knowledge of Superboy beyond the Young Justice cartoon. I do know this time around he was created by N.O.W.H.E.R.E. instead of Cadmus but I don’t think that’s a big change. No action whatsoever which usually would upset me but this time I didn’t care at all. I like the doctor or scientist only described as “Red” and another hot character I’d guess is called “White” because the guys call the women not by name but by hair color. By far the best origin story I’ve ever read and also the only one I’ve read. The best part of this besides “Waldo” (the barely noticeable figure towards the end of the comic) was that since this is an origin story that there was no alternate universe call back. I’m glad I also have reserve for Teen Titans because this book is apparently gonna tie in with the Titans. This is the first perfect 5 out of 5 I’ve given this new universe. I also didn’t have any problems with the art even though there’s barely any shading after Konnor escapes his test tube. Apparantly R.B. Silva, Rob Lean and The Hories want this to be a shiny comic. To go end this review on a corny line, “This book is the shining star of week 2 in the new 52.”

Story: 5 - Excellent
Art: 5 - Excellent

  1. If you blinked at all during this, you would have missed another Wildstorm carry over. The doctor Superboy refers to as “Red” is Caitlin Fairchild from Gen 13. She looked familiar to me, but I couldn’t place her at first. Then when the computer was identifying her and it didn’t say her name fully, that’s when I knew. Very nice easter egg DC!
