I am unaccustomed to saying this about a Paul Cornell book, but this was not a great book. Two things that held the book back in particular were the clunky, mechanical dialog where the characters constantly say one another’s names and, basically, monologue like a classic Silver Age villain about their role and purpose. It was very canned and stiff and unpleasant to read. Second, the art presentation was mediocre. It is difficult to tell whether it was the pencils or the coloring, but the art seemed B-list. I definitely did not like the coloring style on the book, but I cannot help but feel as though the penciling was not peak either.
