Poor Static Shock. DcDuffie's creation has not had a good reception in this new DCU. I expected this series to end with a big cliffhanger leaving fans wondering what happens next. I also thought that the character was going to eventually be put in Teen Titan's, but I read a tweet by Teen Titan's writer Scott Lobdell saying that there were no plans on Static becoming a member of the Titans. Really the series ended in a whimper. There's no action, just alot of talking. In the beginning there's a giant robot controlled by a bullied girl with machine controlling powers and Static solves the problem by talking, and a little zap in the back. This is maybe 6 pages of the book. The rest is just Virgil talking to the principal about his past...and that's it. Also the ending was cliche. I've never noticed how mediocre the art was when Static's hands aren't constantly emitting electricity. This usual dark background book is during the day so it's very bright and the colors are different than what I'm used to and prefer. I feel bad for Static because I haven't seen anything done better with him than his cartoon. Maybe someday he'll show up in Teen Titans and Scott Lobdell can redeem the character.
