Y'know what's great about this "event?" It's completely character based. When's the last time one of these Big Deal mini's came out and it wasn't a MAJOR EVENT THAT WILL CHANGE EVERYTHING? This series has exciting moments, it has moments of great tension, struggle, failure and victory, but almost none of it is played out in combat or on the Stage of History. It's all happening in the hearts and minds of the characters. It totally wouldn't work if Bendis hadn't done such an amazing job over the past billion years that he's been writing Ultimate Spidey of making us care about the cast, both old and new. And here, at the end, we reach the climax of the story, and it's Peter telling Miles that he's cool with him. That simple had more impact and resonance with me than in AvX and Fear Itself combined. This is rambling, but whatever. I'm just super impressed at how small and personal this story was. It felt important, but not in the ways that they usually try to sell the word to us. This journey really meant something to Peter, and maybe more to Miles, and that's conveyed with effortless grace both in the script and on the page. Well done, Brian and Sara.
