When this book was announced I remember people on other comic book websites saying that they were excited to see Miles get training from Peter. Well that’s not how this book has gone at all. Miles actually beat Peter in issue 2! Spider-Men has been about how 616 Peter Parker would react to being teleported to the Ultimate Universe. Mysterio has become the B plot which annoys me, but this is still a great book. What really bothers me about this book is that it isn’t at all what I expected from Brian Michael Bendis. I fully expected to read about Peter training the newbie Spider-Man, Miles Morales. That’s what I wanted to read about, but Brian Michael Bendis and Sara Pichelli deliver a great emotional drama in this issue. Peter meets Ultimate Aunt May and Ultimate Gwen Stacy. I haven’t read much about Gwen and just reading about her in this issue made me want to go and get some trades of Ultimate Spider-Man. During Peter and Gwen’s conversation about what she’s like in his universe Peter would dance around telling her in his universe she’s dead. Since this is the second to last issue of this story, this is the calm before the storm because we’ve only had a few pages of one issue that involves heavy action and Mysterio needs to get dealt with. One last thing: this cover isn’t relevant at all at what happens in this issue. CURSE YOU MISLEADING COVERS!
