I never ever wanted to read this. It just seemed like some kind of little kid version of Spider-Man. I never wanted to read it at all. I read a free preview of some previous Spider-Man Loves Mary Jane on Marvel Digital comics and it caught my eye for some reason. I decided to try out Season 2 with the first issue last month. I must say...it completely caught my attention. I loved reading it. I loved the way they used the characters with teenage situations. It kinda resembled the Ultimate Spider-Man universe with them as teenage characters but it didn't have any sign of that much Spider-Man action in this series. I picked up the First Two hardcover volumes for Season 1 of Spider-Man Loves Mary Jane and I completely enjoyed them despite it being a different team.
This issue started off with MJ waking up late for school. She goes to school and goes to her drama class and she makes up a character to explain why she was late and wins over the drama class and her teacher. She meets up with her friend Liz Allen and they start talking about why she was late and Liz mentions that Harry Osborn (MJ's Ex) has been talking about her behind her back. MJ goes to her bio class and faints when she sees she has to dissect a frog. She wakes up and sees Peter Parker and they talk for a short time but Peter runs off because of Kraven. She meets up with Gwen Stacey for lunch and they talk about school and Harry. Then cut to cheerleader practice and MJ and Liz briefly talk and MJ tries to get Liz to talk about what Harry's been saying. Liz says nothing and MJ leaves. MJ goes to her new job and catches Spider-Man fighting Kraven and she starts messing up at her Hairdressing job. On her way home after a long day, Spidy meets up with her and they talk about her day and Spidy's battle with Kraven.
When I heard Terry Moore was going to be doing this series, I got even more excited. I loved his work on Echo and Strangers In Paradise. I knew it was not going to be the same kind of adult situations as in his other books but nonetheless I enjoyed it a lot. I also loved the artwork but I like the artwork for the earlier Spider-Man Loves Mary Jane series better. I am definately on board for this series and I can't wait for more. This series makes ME want Mary Jane to be my girlfriend and makes me want to go to high school with these characters and have fun with them as they go throughout their lives.
