I liked this issue, and I dug the art. It was like mixing in a little Romita Jr. in with the clean, fun style of Gurihiru (who did the cover and, oddly, the coloring). There’s not a lot to tell about he story. Quite a bit of set-up, a good smattering of trademark Van Lente humor. Abercrombie & Finch? Yeah, ok, I’ll go along. That nasty little dustball has some potential.

I have to be honest, my daughter absolutely hated the art, but she is a Gurihiru/Miyazawa nut. She’s also very upset about the new direction of Spider-Man Loves Mary Jane. But she loved the Chris Giarussu back-up story, and who wouldn’t? Pure fun! “Now this is art!” said she.
