The solicit reads: “The Sixsmiths are your normal, everyday, suburban family. They go to
work, go to school, buy groceries and attend church regularly. The only
difference is that, when they go to church they worship Satan and
cannot wait to experience the joy of living in Hell in the afterlife.
The Sixsmiths, this is one heckuva comedy and one helluva family.”

It’s an interesting premise.  Pretty basic.  But could provide interesting satire.  Sadly, it ends up a mix between Family Circus and the worst New Yorker Cartoons.  Not only did I not laugh once while reading it, the further on that I went the worse I felt for the J. Marc Schmidt.  He wants really badly to be funny.  And maybe he’s a hilarious anecdotist, he may have brilliant stand-up prop routines, he might do an impression of Lady Gaga that will blow your suspenders off, but his satire is dated, tired, and unfunny.

The artwork is standard web-comic quality.  Decent, but with a lot of questionable word balloon placement.  There was one page in the middle that was done with hand lettering, and it made me wish he’d done every page that way.

  1. I couldn’t agree more with akamuu’s review.  It was pretty disappointing.
