I was under the impression that the reason The Young Avengers wasn’t an ongoing series was because Allan Heinberg was strict with the rights of the characters he created.  If that’s the case, he dropped the ball allowing this issue to happen.  Doesn’t he know throwing McKeever on a project leads to Tony Bedard leads to cancellation?  Have The Birds Of Prey not taught us anything?

I flipped through all of the Seige side stories this week.  I have tried very hard to like GIllen and McKelvie’s work, but since Gillen’s been at Marvel he’s only been working on titles I never liked.  I find Asgard incredibly dull.  And Loki is an interesting side character, but I couldn’t make it through that entire Seige issue.  But, there, I acknowledge I am prejudiced to dislike it.  I am a huge fan of the Young Avengers.  And they deserve far better than this “pooled a puddle in my pants” garbage.

Art-wise, the faces were really flat, the panels seemed to be laid out without purpose in mind, and the closing panel is supposed to be inspiring, but instead looks gangly.

Story: 1 - Poor
Art: 2 - Average

  1. Your review is right on point Mr. Muu.  This was a needless, dull story with mediocre minus art.

  2. @Zen: On the plus side, it appears that the next Young Avenger story will be from the original creative team.  Ahhhhh, hope (not to be confused with "Ahhhhhhhhh, Hope!".
